In November 2009, King's Kids Worldwide was approached about the possibility of our organization taking over the operation of this orphanage located 30 minutes north of Port Au Prince. The founder of the orphanage, Ed Hughes, had died in March 2009 due to a tragic accident while working on an addition to the property. From the time of Ed’s death until mid January, 2010, the orphanage was temporarily managed by a nearby orphanage called Mission Of Hope. They however were unable to take over Tytoo on a permanent basis. King's Kids Worldwide took over the operations of Tytoo Garden’s at the End of January in Partnership with Ed Hughes’s home church in Ontario (Sauble Beach Christian Fellowship). There are currently 21 children living at Tytoo Gardens. King's Kids Worldwide is determined to keep Ed’s vision alive, reaching out to the marginalized people in the surrounding Community. Tytoo has several community outreach programs that will be continued or expanded. They include:
Elders Support Program: This program provides food and spiritual support to 25 senior citizens in the surrounding community.
Educational Sponsorship: This program sponsors over 50 children from the community to go to school, paying their tuition and uniforms and providing transportation. This also ensures that these kids receive at least one nutritious meal per day.
Feeding Program/VBS: These programs were stopped when Ed passed away. We are currently planning to re-establish them, beginning in summer 2010.
